
Changes to the Web Based Catalogue
As of the 12 July 2004, the following changes were made to the web-based interface to the State Library of Western Australia’s Online Catalogue.
- The overall appearance of the Catalogue was changed to facilitate increased “ease of use” and improved navigation.
- A new banner now appears throughout the Catalogue to enable users to easily move between the Catalogue and the various sections of the State Library of Western Australia’s external web site.
- A navigational trail has been added to assist users in identifying exactly where they are at any point during their search.
- Existing links have been reorganized and new links added to assist users in identifying exactly which sections of the Catalogue they wish to search.
- The link to the Infolink: Government and Community Information Database now appears at the top of the main Catalogue page making it much easier to locate.
- New context sensitive search tips pages have been added to assist users with their search.
- Search results pages now provide more information “up front” with links to further information if required.
- Icons now appear next to items in search results screens to indicate the type of item retrieved (eg. a book, sound recording, photograph, etc).
